Grants

Grants are fees or services donated by a foundation or organization to help individuals accomplish their set goal.Grants can be awarded for almost anything. Typically the person or persons applying for the grant must fall into a certain criteria to be elligible. There are several diffrent criteriass when it comes to receiving a grant. We have a list of som grants available to all types of Film Makers.


The Roy W. Dean Film & Video Grant

This grant offers awards annually to documentaries and other projects which are unique and benefit society.  They have film and video grants out of  L.A., and a film grant out of N.Y.  Anyone can apply for these grants.  This year's awards total over $80,000. These guys also include services such as film stock, lab fees, post costs and more. They have had seven films completed and wish to have more.
Anyone is eligible to apply except employees, or family members of any employee of From the Heart Productions or any of the sponsors.

Carole Fielding StudentsProduction & Research Grant

Up to $4,000 is available for film, video, or multimedia productionand up to $1,000 is available for research projects in historical,
critical, theoretical or experimental studies of film or video.An applicant must be enrolled as a student (undergraduate or graduate) at the time the application is made.  The applicant must
also be sponsored by a faculty person who is an active member of the University Film and Video Association.

ILLINOIS ARTS COUNCIL (IAC) SPECIAL ASSISTANCE ARTS PROGRAM

Matching grants of up to $1,500 avail. to IL artists for specific projects such as registration fees & travel to attend conferences, seminars, or workshops; consultant fees for resolution of specific artistic problems; exhibits, performances, publications, screenings; materials, supplies, or services. SPECIAL ASSISTANCE GRANT

Offered by the Illinois Arts Council. Matching funds of up to $1,500 to Illinois artists for specific projects. Examples of activities funded are registration fees & travel for conferences, seminars, workshops; consultants fees for the resolution of a specific artistic problem; exhibits, performances, publications, screenings; materials, supplies or services. Funds awarded based on quality of work submitted & impact of proposed project on artist's professional development. Applications must be received at least 8 weeks prior to project starting date. Thousand Words Finishing Fund

The Thousand Words Finishing Fund is designed to work together with emerging filmmakers to create intelligent, innovative, and challenging film. The fund is available for a variety of resources such as editing, sound mixing, music rights, etc.
Projects submitted must have a first or second time feature director and/or producer. Feature films, documentaries, animation, and works-in-progress may be submitted.
Finishing Fund applications are accepted on a continuing basis. There are no deadlines for submitting your project(s).

IFFM GORDON PARKS INDEPENDENT FILM AWARDS

INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY ASSOCIATION

OFFERS KODAK PRODUCT GRANT. Applicants must be IDA members residing in U.S. Full-time students not eligible. Only documentary and non-fiction projects may apply. Winners awarded up to 50% of film stock budget. Porject's proposal must be accepted in IDA's Fiscal sponsorship program with the original video budget. Entry fee: $25. MATCHING GRANT FOR RESTORATION

PACIFIC PIONEER FUND

Offered by Film Arts Foundation to documentary filmmakers living in California, Oregon & Washington. Limited to organizations certified as public charities which control selection of individual recipients & supervise their projects.
