You Are Here: iFvChicago.com: Screening: June 2002 Screen-2-Stream

Screen-2-Stream is a hit!

On Monday, June 24, 2002, iFvChicago.com in association with Frankie J’s on Broadway held the first showing of Screen-2-Stream. For those of you who don’t know what that is, I’ll elaborate.

Angela Farruggia of Frankie J's Methadome Theatre hosted the screening.

Screen to Stream is a way for independent film and video makers to get their work shown to an audience outside of their immediate family here in Chicago. The event is also geared to help filmmakers collaborate on ideas and assist each other towards their film endeavor.

Mark Anderson of iFvchicago.com demonstrates his appreciation to the audience and the filmmakers for their excellent submitions.

It’s held the last Monday of every month, upstairs from FrankieJ’s Restaurant at the Methadome Theatre.

iFvChicago.com will now attempt to describe the sights and sounds from the inaugural evening.

Using our trusty press pass and FrankieJ connection we were able to enter the theater early. It’s a quaint theater, with approximately 60 seats and fortunately enough room for the people standing to get a good view of the screen. June 24th being the first Screen to Stream, we expected, placed bets on, and begged our friends to at least fill up about 35 of the 60 seats. To our amazement, it ended up being standing room only, with an awesome audience out to support the independent film scene.

B.Y.O.B or not, the audience truly enjoyed themselves at the screening. Altered photos or not, we have the pictures to prove it!

The audience took advantage of the B.Y.O.B. policy.

And, as for the selection of films… Let’s just say, Kevin Smith would have been jealous towards the writing brilliance! Parker Posey would have been taking some notes from the acting and Tim Burton would have even complimented the cinematography and directing. Of course none of the above mentioned attended the first Screan-2-Stream, but rumor has it they are coming to the one on July 29th 2002 one and you can ask them yourself.

Please continue to support the independent film and video community at our next Screen-2-Stream on July 29th 2002. And as usual its an all ages, free event, and its also, B.Y.O.B…

We also wanted to announce that the film, "Schmeckman," was the winner of the film screening.

Director Scott O'neil answers audiences questions regarding his winning film "Schmeckman"

The runner up was, "Two Hands are Better Then None," by Kevin Leeser and in third place was the video,"MooKalooKa," by Zabba Zabba Productions.

LEFT: Kevin Leeser, director of "Two Hands are Better than None" that placed second expresses his anger towards people who don't appreciate puppetry in movies..
RIGHT: Matt Brookens - third place winner for "MooKalooKa" tells the audiences the best methods of stealing locations, e.g. Muskie's on Belmont.

As promised, the winners are now available to watch on this site. Here are the first 3 films that made it from Screen to Stream:

WATCH "Schmeckman," (1st PLACE)
WATCH "Two Hands are Better Then None" (2nd PLACE)
WATCH "MooKalooKa" (3rd PLACE)
